Why are those Quiz things you see on blogs and LJs and such called “meme’s”?

I ran across this on sphynxcatvp’s LJ: The Military Applications of Silly String At first I thought it was a joke, but it’s actually very clever! :) Edit: I’ve been perusing the whole Cockeyed.com site and it’s FULL of all kinds of silly almost-scientific stuff. hehehehe … think MythBusters meets 3 Stooges! ;)
