To celebrate my birthday (early, LOL) Jim, Jessie and I went to Bento for dinner. Had a great time, our cook had performed several tricks I hadn’t seen before, including “heartbeat” and “heartburn”; my favorite bit was when he was playing around with the eggs, after flipping, bouncing, and finally cracking each, he took each shell and smacked it hard and said “Bad egg! Who’s your daddy?” LOL! That cracked me and Jim up. (Hey, I’m a sucker for a good show.)
We had a very good time, as we always do at Bento. The food is excellent, the service is excellent. It’s undoubtedly one of my favorite Metro-area restaurants; definitely my favorite in Gardendale. The family that sat at the table with us were very nice. They had kids that went to school with Jessie; she instantly bonded with the little girl sitting beside her. Those two chatted and played the whole evening — she had a blast. :)
When dinner was over, the owner and our cook marched throughout the restaurant beating a drum and stopped at our table. They sang “Happy Birthday” to me in English, then again in Japanese. The Japanese version is my favorite! :D
Jim gave me part of my birthday present early last night. The new Spiderman 2.1 DVD set and the second disk set of the Forever Knight trilogy.
Sweet! :mrgreen:
My mother had called yesterday wanting to know if I’d meet with her and Dad for my birthday. Quite honestly, that surprised me, as they did nothing last year, and nothing was done for any of the birthdays celebrated so far this year — why now? :???:
She was supposed to call me with the time and place but she hasn’t yet, so I’m assuming those plans have fallen through. I’m also assuming they’ll do what they did last year and send me a card. Guess I’ll watch the mail. *shrug* Jim and I had originally planned to go out tonight, but that’s sort of up in the air as several friends have expressed wishes for us to get together with them later tonight to go out.
Jim’s brother and his family are still in town, but leaving in a couple of days, so his mom has planned a big to-do tomorrow. We’re supposed to take the kids bowling, then BBQ if the weather’s decent. (Considering it’s storming right now, not sure what tomorrow’s going to be like.) I’m really looking forward to spending the day with them tomorrow for my birthday.
I gotta say it’s an improvement from last year’s. (though having a job right now would be nice)
Next weekend is the Alabama A-Day game, so Jess and I are really looking forward to that. Any other Bama bloggers going?
Rick
I’ve got mine coming up in a couple of weeks. The big 4-0.
Doc
I know it’s a day early but Happy Birthday! :)
DSB
Well, Happy Birthday! Sounds like the weekend’s festivities are off to a great start, and you scored some really cool gifties!
Nicki
@Rick – Oooh, Happy Birthday early! :)
@Doc – Thank you, sweetie. :)
@DSB – Thank you! :D
Mr. Wonderful just informed me that he wasn’t able to get me what I “really wanted” for my birthday, so he figured the DVDs would make up for it.
When I asked what he was originally going to get me he said, “A wii.”
:shock: OMG, I am *SO* marrying this man, LOL!
:mrgreen:
Ben
Happy Birthday!
And my Wii was delivered on Saturday morning… took ages for me to finally get hold of one. They are excellent.
DualDenz
hmmmm, likes playing games, is clearly a fan of comics and related things and is a wizz when it comes to computers….
If you and Jim ever fall out, would you consider marrying me? ;)

I can’t wait either. Jessie’s so excited, she’s been talking about it for the last 2 months, LOL!
