I was approached by a friend of mine about going in with her for a booth at this upcoming fall’s local art fair. While I’m awaiting more details and the cost, I figured it would be a good opportunity to get some exposure for some of my newer pieces — I have several inked and painted works that I’ve done over the past year (many of them while Jim was in the hospital!). I had even started designing new fliers to hand out with my business cards.
This got me wondering though. Most everyone gives out things like that: a flier or a card of some sort. I’m wondering if I should look into giving something else out? Maybe something useful — a magnet with my info on it, or perhaps some logo pens?
What do you give out when promoting your works?
Ben
Badges & Stickers :) I love stickers.
Nicki
I love stickers too, but I usually end up giving them to Jessie … will have to think about that one!
hrrrmmmmmm … I hadn’t thought about badges. Thanks Ben. :D

It’s normally suggested to give away, when possible, something related to your product, and something useful. It helps the (potential) customer make the connection. And it’s not possible with every industry, but it’s something to shoot for.
When I f-i-n-a-l-l-y get my damn site finished, I plan on having a virtual open house and giving away (in person and online) customized mousepads. Every person who has a ‘puter needs a mousepad, and it will have my contact info on it, right next to their ‘puter. Win-win :)
I know refrigerator magnets can be semi-tacky, but what about one with a small image of some of your art? Even laminated business cards are good, since they look too nice to throw away, so people tend to hang onto them.
Whether any of that translates to actual sales, only tme will tell. But we gve it our best shot :) Good luck honey!!

Hrm, I hadn’t thought about mousepads, that’s a good idea too.
Magnet art was exactly what I was thinking. :)
Already working on a new biz card design, so that one’s a given. :D
Thanks for the feedback guys!

Which fall festival? If you wouldn’t mind would you email me and let me know. I’d like to come if it’s not too far away.
As far as what to give out, I don’t know because I don’t know what KIND of art you do. I was thinking a paint brush with your name and number. But personally, if I was walking up and looking at your stuff, whatever kind of art it is, I’d LOVE to have a magnet! Also, if you are in MY neck of the woods I have some other promotional stuff for you to think about. I am in Madison and in old historical downtown Madison there is a place that has a monthly showcase for artists. I had an artisit friend do it and it was quite profitable for her and it got her name out there and in the newspaper too!

I would suggest doing a chip clip with your art on it, becasue just about everybody eats chips and then they would see it everyday! Or at least everytime they eat chips or anything else that they need to seal.
I know when I go to a builders night out or something like that they always say, well we had some chip clippers but they got gone.
Hope this helps!

Hrm, I hadn’t thought about those either. I’ll have to look into that. Thanks, T! :)
