Ok, after a little nudging I have finally composed a list of 100 things about me … hopefully things that most of you don’t already know about me:
- I don’t like exposing my weaknesses or fears.
- I have irrational fears, or am afraid of intangible things.
- I hate seeing my name misspelled.
- I don’t like to be late and will usually be at least 15 minutes early to events or meetings.
- I may not show up or walk through the door that early, but I’ll be somewhere in the area.
- I don’t like unexpected visitors. Call me first or I won’t answer the door.
- I don’t like pushy people.
- I don’t like feet. Don’t touch mine and don’t expect me to touch yours.
- If I could, I’d wear my boots 24x7x365 and with any outfit.
- I need more outfits that require boots.
- I love jewelry, but usually don’t wear a lot of it.
- I like to wear things that are simple.
- I love dark colors.
- As much as I love “girly stuff,” I hate pink.
- I hate things that make me cry — including but not limited to: movies, music and books.
- I love to laugh, so I will usually surround myself with things and/or people that I find funny.
- For personal reasons, I don’t like talking about politics. Just about any other conversation topic is fair game though.
- I have strong political views, but don’t like to share because when I have to defend them, I feel I’m being attacked and take that very personally. If I like you and you want me to KEEP liking you, don’t push it.
- I love all creatures on God’s green earth, but will kill a cockroach (or anything resembling one) every freakin’ chance I get.
- I’m too forgiving when it comes to family.
- People usually take advantage of me because of that, but I’m working to change that.
- I don’t trust people, and it takes a lot to earn my trust.
- I don’t like being lied to, and it’s the quickest way to lose my trust and friendship.
- I like to say “y’all” … a lot.
- I also swear … a lot … but will not do so around children or unfamiliar company.
- I’m very self-conscious about my accent; whenever possible I enunciate and “try not to sound so Southern.”
- I hear music in my head — always. As far back as I can remember, I have always been this way and am almost never without a tune of some kind stuck in my mind.
- I’m awfully “wordy.” I love to write, and when inspiration hits it pours out like a river.
- Because of this, a friend calls me “The Niagara Falls Wordflow Goddess.”
- I have a slight temper, and it has nothing to do with my hair color.
- I have no idea what my natural hair color is anymore.
- I’m pretty sure at least 40% of it is gray by now.
- When I was young, I secretly wished I was Native American so I could have their beautiful black straight hair, dark eyes and tanned skin — as opposed to my non-tanning, blue-eyed, frizzy curly-haired, very VERY white, “so white I almost glow in the dark” ass.
- I think Native Americans are some of the most beautiful people.
- Ditto Asians.
- I seriously dig Native American and Asian men.
- I don’t care for blond men.
- I adore brunettes.
- I have a weakness for men in uniform.
- I also have a weakness for musicians and geeks.
- A very simple feature can make someone attractive to me: eyes, smile, laugh, toned arms or legs.
- Too many muscles is a turn off.
- My biggest turn ons aren’t physical features: wit, intelligence, sense of humor, kindness, patience.
- Despite having a broad range of “likes” I’m very picky when it comes to men. (sorry, guys!)
- Lucky for Jim, he figured out how to snag me pretty early in the relationship: he fed me and wore his Army gear up to where I worked a lot. *grin*
- I am best bribed by food and/or drink — preferably a free lunch or dinner, chocolates, or my favorite brew.
- Back in the day, I was a pretty heavy drinker; now I’m tapped out after a couple or three.
- I don’t like to drink when upset or crying.
- I drink a lot when happy.
- I drink more when angry.
- I’m a pretty happy drunk. Most often I’ll hug everyone and tell them how much I love them and beg to go karaoke.
- If I keep drinking past the “happy drunk” stage, I’ll start crying. It’s time to take me home at that point.
- Drinking tequila or rum makes me very sick.
- I’m told that I’m mean when I drink tequila.
- Drinking absinthe also makes me sick.
- I’ve read for many years about famous artists, writers, and so forth drinking absinthe and it “enhancing” their artistic visions. It didn’t do squat for me.
- I have a little talent in a lot of areas, but specialize in none.
- I often wish I could do only one thing, so I could be best at it.
- I’m usually an incurable optimist, but will retain pessimistic views on some things.
- I believe everything happens for a reason.
- I’m a hopeless romantic.
- I secretly love a good love story, but usually avoid reading things like that because I know they’ll make me cry.
- Actually, it’s pretty easy to make me cry.
- Once I start crying, it’s sometimes hard to stop. (now you know why I avoid it)
- I don’t think I’m photogenic and hate having my picture taken.
- I don’t like “breakfast foods” and usually would much prefer some pasta or a sandwich.
- I hate eggs.
- I think milk tastes funny.
- I don’t like sausage or any other kind of “ground” meats.
- This includes hamburgers — but I will eat BK or Krystal’s.
- I hate fish, but love fried crab claws.
- I love potatoes and will eat them in any and every way, shape or fashion with the exception of raw.
- I get very cranky very quickly when I’m hungry and can’t eat.
- I hate seeing people who do bad things get rewarded. (ahem, Paris Hilton)
- I hate reality tv shows.
- I hate daytime tv. (soap operas, talk shows, etc.)
- I hate that MTV and VH-1 don’t play music videos anymore.
- I don’t like American Idol.
- I didn’t like Friends.
- In general, I hated Seinfeld.
- I try not to watch the news.
- I would much rather watch something educational than trendy.
- I don’t like when men won’t open a door for me.
- It pisses me off when people won’t say “excuse me” or “thank you.”
- I think the reason people make fun of our state is because the people here drive like absolute brain-dead morons.
- I think parents who let their daughter wear something that looks like it’s from Britney Spears’ closet should be slapped senseless.
- I think parents who let their kids dress, talk or act like Snoop Dogg should be slapped as well.
- I think parents who let their kids run wild and/or act like rude little brats in general should have their asses kicked.
- I believe a gay marriage can function as well as any straight marriage.
- That said, I believe it is imperative that a child have an active mother AND a father in his/her life.
- I support stem cell research.
- I think those who can work SHOULD. Get a job, you lazy bums! If you can’t find work, go see your local Department of Industrial Relations; their purpose in life is to help you find a job.
- I believe that if you want to live in this country, you should learn to speak its language.
- I believe that anyone who comes in to this country illegally should be sent back ASAFP when found/discovered. — Why should you get special treatment over those who are following our rules and trying to get in LEGALLY?
- I think jail and prison terms SHOULD be hard time. If you don’t enjoy your time there, don’t break the law so you won’t go back!
- “Gun control” means having it out of or away from the reach of your children.
- As I see it, we are all the same color on the inside. What you look like on the outside does not make you any more or less of special than I am, nor does it entitle you, me or anyone else to anything extra. We are all the same animal and come from the same place; get used to it.
- I love big ideas and enjoy talking with philosophers and thinkers.
- It is easier to convince me with action than it is with words.
- I am happiest with “the simple things in life.”

I don’t like exposing my weaknesses or fears.
I have irrational fears, or am afraid of intangible things.
Thanks for the reality check, spookilly simmilar.
Dan
You said, “As I see it, we are all the same color on the inside. What you look like on the outside does not make you any more or less of special than I am, nor does it entitle you, me or anyone else to anything extra. We are all the same animal and come from the same place; get used to it.”
I think you need to learn history. This comment does not resemble reality but a vision of reality that fits your political leanings.
Nicki
@Denz: heh, er … you’re welcome? :)
@Dan: Could you elaborate on that? I admit, I’m a bit of an idealist; but I don’t see what believing in racial equality has to do with my political affiliations.
ProphetJoe
Yes, Dan, please elaborate. Nicki’s statement is widely held among both liberals and conservatives in this country.
Do you believe that you as a _____________ (insert race here) are entitled to something more than the rest of us? If so, please specify what and why.
The idea that one race is superior to another is quite arcane in the socio-political, scientific and religious arenas of modern cultures. Are you behind the times, or do you have some deep insights we’re missing? To what “history” are you referring? I’ve long been a student of history, theology and philosophy and I’m not sure what the hell you’re talking about!
Please, do tell us more!
ProphetJoe
Oh, and Nicki, you have a very nice blog. Keep up the good work!
Nicki
Thank you, ProphetJoe. :)
Father Luke
I read all of them.
Hope you’re cool, Nita.
Okay then,

After reading all these, I think your still the same girl I remember
when you had the newsletter going, & I’m glad your principles
toward people & your family have remained strong.
B’ham, I see. How’s it now?? I was raised there in the “Center Point” area. It’ll always be “Home” to me.
I’m glad to have found your corner of the web, yours is a name I’ll never forget…
Have a great day / night.
~EH
Nicki
@EH: Thank you. :) It’s always nice to hear from former newsletter members. Honestly I’m surprised anyone remembers me, LOL!
Center Point, huh? I grew up not too far from there … I was out that way just a few weeks ago, car shopping. :)
B’ham is not too bad, UAB has pretty much eaten up most of Southside and bits of downtown, LOL! :) There are quite a few trendy nighttime hotspots. It’s funny, I’m seeing more and more B’ham places getting their own MySpace page, so I find a lot of them by accident.

I hear music in my head — always. I don’t hear it all the time, but when I do, I am doing my best work. Its like I’m in the zone. Strange.

Hmmmm…wonder if Dan ran and hid?

Welcome to the Cotillion, Nicki.
Nicki
Thank you!
Nicki
I don’t like going back and editing old posts, but I should have elaborated on that a bit. It’s aimed at those who arrive here illegally with absolutely no intention of becoming a hard-working member of society, of contributing to the better of this country, those who scream and jump up and down wanting instant citizenship (rather than going through the correct channels like law-abiding immigrants who are more than welcome here IMO) — these are the same people who claim that this is “their” country and we stole it from them. Give me a freakin’ break.
I see many illegal immigrants where I work, and have spoken with several. Between my broken Spanish and their broken English, I’ve learned a lot about those who come here and want to start a life and raise their children in the best country in the world (hey, I’m biased). I’m all for that … come in, get legal the right way, learn some English, and join the rest of the good hard-working Americans, here’s your Flag and apple pie.
The way I should have worded that is if you come to this country illegally, and you’ve no intention of becoming a contributing member of society and being a law-abiding hard-working citizen, then you don’t belong here and should be sent back ASAP when found.
I don’t expect everyone to agree with that, but it’s my $.02 on the matter.
Shelli
I agree with almost every single thing on your list! Thats so rare to randomly find someone online who shares so much in common with yourself, so I had to leave ya a comment. Maybe 10 of your statements, tops, didn’t apply to me!
But yes, I very much am with you on the issue of illegal immigration. I’m not racist, but I strongly disapprove of handouts for whoever wanders across our border. I understand (maybe not to the FULL extent, but I have a pretty good idea) the difficulty of becoming a citizen legally, but if it was easy our country would be bursting at the seams- and many cities are already. Anyone can study and learn basic English and American history, and if one isn’t willing to put forth the effort, they should be deemed not loyal to the country and therefore don’t belong here.
But anyways, just wanted to send ya a shout-out and say I like your blog, and keep doin what you’re doin!
Nicki
Hi Shelli, thanks for stopping by and commenting. :)

In remarks to Dan’s post…
If Dan wants facts he shouldn’t meddle in the affairs of a mythical Annunaki secret that mankind was created by genetic improvement, just didn’t have the nerve to throw that out there…lol
I agree with you Nita,on that aspect of number 94, and I have an Aunt stuck in Mexico seperated from her child, because my uncle didn’t handle the situation correctly. She got caught by trying to correct the issue. How irronic is that one.
Nicki
OMG, Johnny! Johnny Johnny!!! Wow, this IS a surprise! Thanks so much for dropping by, I’ll be sure to update my addy book with your new email.

Pretty nice.. I enjoy reading them all.. Thanks! be happy as always. :-)

WOW..that was annoying!
You really need to get over yourself, and get a life that doesn’t involve making this 100 things about my lame boring stupid self, or blogging! You are NOT a webdesigner, COPYRIGHT, COPYRIGHT, COPYRIGHT, really can you copyright anything else in life? You have no talent, sorry but its true.
Nicki
Ah! Now that I have the obligatory “You suck!” infantile comment, my blog is complete. ;)
