Update: There is a POODLE fix (APAR LO82478) for Connections CR5 that will resolve this.

Ran across this issue recently at work and sharing here in case anyone else runs into this.

Our Connections environment is currently running 4.5 CR4. We have the IBM Connections Mail plugin installed. Our users LOVE this plugin. What’s it do? Not a whole lot, just adds a couple buttons to your top navigation bar in Connections, giving you a way to integrate Connections and iNotes:

Very handy. Easy to install and configure. However, I noticed that after I had updated our main Domino server (running 9.0) with the IF7 TLS/POODLE fix that the Connections Mail plugin had stopped working, giving the following error:

I double-checked its config settings, restarted the Connections application server clusters, nothing worked. I opened a PMR with IBM and after a bit of back and forth troubleshooting, found that the culprit was this attribute that was added to our notes.ini file on the Domino server that was patched with IF7:

debug_unsupported_disable_sslv3=17

This was added per IBM’s suggestion. Apparently this plugin only goes over SSL and not TLS. Sad panda!

IBM Support is supposed to reach out to the plugin’s author(s) to get a fix out. So until then, the sad little plugin sits there broken. :(
