Or rather, ketchup … *nyuck nyuck nyuck* I’ve had a lot of things swirling around me lately. Work has been absolutely crazy, I’ve been putting in a lot of OT — not a whole lot of dough to show for it though.
God, I need another job.
Jim and I are, at the moment, sans transportation. My car had started having problems a few months back, overheating after running only a few minutes. I was told that it was more than likely a cracked head … expensive shit, and that car is 14 years old. (pretty freakin’ old for the last-generation Oldsmobiles!) I have cried and mourned — that car was my baby and I hate to get rid of it, but I’ve come to the realization that I won’t be able to afford to fix it.
So … I need a new car. Oh, and the engine in Jim’s car gave out last week — literally! We had to pull off I-65 at Valleydale. Moporoco was nice enough to give us a ride home, and Jim’s mom has been letting us use her car until we acquired something a little more mobile.
I’ve been going back and forth with my folks and making calls around to various places, and the crux of the matter is that my credit is still shot to shit so I can’t get a decent rate on a loan. I talked to Dad tonight and he’s agreed to sell me their old Toyota. Hey, it’s got wheels and it runs … that’s enough for me — for now.
Jim’s car is another matter. The cheapest estimate we’ve gotten so far on a rebuilt engine was $2500. A new one is around $5K. Ouch. :( And that’s not including labor.
The job search hasn’t gone that well. I had set my hopes too high for the last one I interviewed for … got a call back, then nothing. *sigh* I had really hoped to have moved on to something else by now.
Weird things have been happening lately … those of you who know Mara and her woo-woo references: it’s something akin to that. I can’t put my finger on it, but it’s something I’ve seen/felt before.
On a positive note, I’ve pretty much finished my recipes site. I’m really pleased at how well it’s turned out. I’ve spent the last few updates going over minute color changes, exploring links, and adding a handful of recipes here and there. I need to find more of my mom’s old recipes and add them.
I’ve been putting a little work into my brother’s site. He sent me a really nice pic and a bio today. I sat down and recoded it a couple of nights ago and really like how the layout is going. Unfortunately I still have a few modules left to hack out, so guess what I’ll be doing this weekend. LOL
Oh, speaking of the weekend, the Seahawks are headed to the Super Bowl – Go Shaun! ROLL TIDE!!! :D
hehehe, I love seeing former Bama players do well. And Shaun was one of my absolute favs.
Moving right along: I was able to get out this past weekend to see Walk the Line, the movie about Johnny Cash. GOOD MOVIE! Bit more of a tear jerker than I expected, but definitely one I’ll be adding to my DVD collection. (and DAMN Phoenix looked/sounded sexy!)
Saw a post by mc chris earlier … poor dude lost on Spin.com. I’ve been revisiting his tunes over the past week, listening to his first album a lot lately. It’s driving Jim nuts. *g*
Also heard from Father Luke, he’s taking a long hiatus and moving back out to CA. Via con Dios, mi amigo. I’ll miss ya scraggly ass.
Oh, most of you regulars have noticed that I closed the Coven site. I stepped down from that, and several other sites that I was running and decided to take a break from it all. I’ve had so much overwhelming lately. I’ve taken a few steps back and decided to cut a lot of things out of my life — get everything a little more simplified. I might decide to start it all up again later, but right now I’ve no desire nor drive to even look at it … literally … the backup DVD I burned is still sitting in my tray. :P
Anyways, it’s just after midnight, I’ve had a splitting headache all day and I’m beat.
I’m sure I’ll think of more shit to post tomorrow … I’m just … “tired” (for lack of a better word).
G’nite y’all.
Doc

I never, never, never ever thought I’d see anyone but me rooting for the Seahawks. You rock. :-)

Not that I’m one to normally correct Spanish misspellings but, um, isn’t that Vaya con Dios ?? ;-) [ducks]

Doc: I’ve never disliked them, but haven’t really been a big NFL fan until now. :) And yes, it’s ‘vaya’ — I was tired. ;PPPPPPPPPPPFTPT!
hehehe
Mara: Yeah, soz ’bout that. Although I’m glad it doesn’t display full posts b/c I never get replies on LJ. :( Thanks for the t&p hon.
*hugs!!!*

Hey nittie, i feel your pain. I’m on to my 3rd 80 hour working week.
But think positive, i got a little cash saved up for some travelling later in the year. might even fly over to your side of the ocean.
Nitallica
Hey Darkling, that would rawk. :)

Well damn…if we can’t entice you over to LJ…I’ll just have to come over here! I forgot about the Sage RSS feeds extension on Firefox! Too bad they can’t hook it up so the commenter gets a reply when you reply to the commenter.

“Too bad they can’t hook it up so the commenter gets a reply when you reply to the commenter.”
Actually, I’m looking into that … I think there’s something for WordPress that wouuld allow me to reply to comments like LJ does and have WP send a notice to the poster to him/her know there’s a reply waiting.
:)
