I got an email today from someone in Denmark wanting to buy nitallica.org off me for $900. Granted, I wouldn’t sell my domain unless it were for a flagrantly obscene amount of money … and just under a grand isn’t anywhere near PG-13, much less obscene. ;)
I replied, told her I was curious and wanted to know why she wanted my domain. She replied a couple of minutes later saying that if I agreed to sell it was to be used for advertising.
Great …
She did make it clear that she didn’t want any of my content, just the domain. I politely declined. This name has been my online identity since my old BBS days. (Any locals still around from the Matrix? Last time I checked, my account still worked, LOL!)
It did make me wonder if other domains that I had registered in the past could’ve made me a profit rather than me just letting them go. (All but one are now owned by companies similar to the lady who contacted me today — using them for advertising.)
*shrugs*
Food for thought I guess …
Doc
$900 just for advertising? Not even something cool like being used for the band? Bah…
I’ve long since forgotten which of the nitallica domains I’d registered and then gave to you when you asked. But it was cool that you asked instead of beating me to death with a crayon or something :-)
*Hugs*

LOL, I remember that … that was nitallica.com … You were such a sweetie, I was prepared to pay money for that domain! :)
Unfortunately I technically never had control (read: ownership in the eyes of the registrar) of the domain, so when it expired, that german kid snatched it up and has since bought a couple other nitallica*.* domains. :P
I was a dumbass for not having it transferred to my registrar immediately, but oh well … :P

Ohhhhhhhhh honey…I *love* your new blog design! It’s so cute and cuddly :)
On the domain name…that’s weird. Gotta wonder if they look at how long the domain’s been online, and hope to snag some of your user base. I mean, “advertising”? WTF does THAT mean? They could come up with their own domain and reg it for $15…seems fishy to me.
Nitallica
Thanks. :D
re: domain … Yeah, seemed rather dodgy, not that I’d give up my good name so easily. LOL
