Uncle Monstert
I attended classes at UAT in the womb and still don’t
care about football. I suppose that makes me an evil
heretic. Back in the early 70’s I used to see The Bear
and Joe Namath at the bank all the time but I never
fell to my knees and worshiped or fainted at the sight
of them. I must be evil. snicker
The question is not whether WE are ready for football, but rather is the Crimson Tide ready with enough healthy flu-free players to take on Virginia Tech (I hope I’m correct about their first opponent).
2 interesting personal things you may not know:
[1] My (by marriage) great nephew, Ellis Ponder, is the equipment manager for the Tide team.
[2] I’m honored and pleased to count among my friends a gentleman, Fred Marshall, who played at the center position for the Bear (See http://bryantmuseum.ua.edu/direction.cfm?dir=players&player=947 and the years 1970 and 1971 @ http://bryantmuseum.ua.edu/direction.cfm?dir=history_1970). As a matter of fact, Fred and two lovely ladies paid me and my boss the honor of a visit this past Monday and even brought lunch for all of us.
Yeah, Fred’s cool and also very intelligent especially when it comes to politics, government, and world affairs. Locally he’s known as “Donkey Fred†because he has a pet donkey, or perhaps more than one. He’s also about as humorous as a human can be.
But the two ladies who came with Fred to visit me last week are HOTTIES!.
