Quite a good read, and finally answering the age-old question of how the gag started. “Yelling “Freebird!” has been a rock cliché for years, guaranteed to elicit laughs from drunks and scorn from music fans who have long since tired of the joke.”

Interesting sidenote: Jim’s parents went to college with the “VanZant boys”. Jim’s mom has shown me the signatures in her autograph book, from when they were in a band prior to Skynard.
