I’ve told you guys about various brochures, ads, etc. that I get from some very far away places, right? I got one this weekend that looked very promising — although it would have to be a “no kids” vacation, or second honeymoon maybe. LOL!
The “Om” Hotel and Lounge in Playa del Carmen (Mexico). It’s named for the “om”, a sacred syllable of the HINDU philosophy.
It is formed by “aum” and, according to the Sanskrit grammar rules, an A and an U together form an O, so “aum” produces the sound “om.” Among yoga practices, its pronunciation is not very common in the West, whereas in India, “om” is sacred and perhaps this is the reason why it is not given the importance it deserves in our Yoga practices in the West. “Om” is an unique vocal, pronounced on a regular basis, it brings many advantages both on the physical and mental aspects.
It’s a downtown place, and all the pictures I’ve seen so far on their site and several travel sites, it looks like it’s a nice place, very tranquil and “feng shui” like. The rates are cheap, a week will run you around 4-500 bucks … not bad for a swanky posh lodging establishment. Several vacation/cruise webpages cite “Om” as a “top hot Playa del Carmen hotel.” I dunno ’bout all that, but it does look like fun.

Playa del Carmen is a complete dive. I’d hit up Acapulco or even Veracruz for much nicer places to visit. Stayed in a nice little family run hotel in Acapulco for £15 a night. Can’t beat that for value.

 Really?
Wow, they must’ve really spruced up the place for the brochure I got then! ‘Cuz it looked really plush and swank … I had thrown it into my “keeper” drawer, LOL!
Thanks for the tip, Ben! :D
