A few weeks ago, I lost another long time friend: Heather Ives, aka WebKittyn. I don’t even remember exactly how we met; it was either through a mutual acquaintance, webring, or blogging event. All I remember is reading her blog and laughing my ass off thinking, “I gotta meet this chick, she’s cool!” Alas, we never met in person. As I’m finally get to a place where I can travel and do more things, her time had come. Even as her best bud posted that it had come time to say goodbyes, no flights were available for me to make it in time. She had passed away early that very evening.
Even now part of me doesn’t want to believe she’s gone. She was there for me over the years during many trials and tribulations. She was one of the few who reached out to me, checking on me when my marriage failed, and I was alone in the darkness. I miss her amazing wit and generous heart. So many things remind me of her. I see cat memes and still have the urge to send to her DMs. I was listening to an X Japan song during my lunch and cried. Goosebumps and a light chill skittered around my shoulders and up the back of my neck; I’d like to think that was her trying to comfort me.
I miss her very much, and my heart goes out to all who loved her as I do. Goodbye, Heather. I hope we see each other again some day.
