While cleaning out some old bookmarks, I ran across Fravia+’s Searchlores site … and saw that it has finally fallen. That makes me a little sad. It’s been 7 years since he passed away. I sat here tearing up, mourning him all over again. Why does it feel like a part of my youth died when I realized that site was gone? I know it’s naive to think it could stay up forever, just as it’s unrealistic to think our friends stay here with us forever.
I was just a kid when I met him. We chatted for days and days via emails and messageboards. Fravia+ taught me so much about the way the Internet worked, as well as about life in general. He introduced me to Phrozen Crew. He was my role model and mentor, and a really good dude. I regret that I never told him how much I appreciated everything he did for me. After all, he was my inspiration for my SATUF site. I’ve since gone on to run so many helpful guide repositories, info blogs, and so on and so forth, most of them are now gone but a few folks still remember, just as he is still remembered.
There are a few archived copies of his old site, but I haven’t found anything that was as current as Searchlores except the Wayback Machine copy.
Maybe someone will revive it some day. The younger generation could learn a thing or ten from him …
