I’m in the process of updating my “WP plugins in use” on the Links page, but I wanted to make a note on the ones I’ve recently removed and highlight the new additions.
Comments, suggestions, retorts, etc. are most welcome. Feel free to suggest in the comments form below!
Commenter’s Link Love
I love linky-love-type plugins and for the last 6 months or so, CommentLuv was one of my absolute favorites. Its intention is to link to the latest post on the blog of a commenter (if he/she filled in a link when commenting). For whatever reason, it’s now refusing to work correctly, so this morning I pulled its plug and deleted it from my server. :glurps_tb:
Who knows, maybe the next version will work for me? Until then, I’ll either do without or look for an alternative.
In the meantime, I can show some link-love each month to the top commenters using Lorna Timbah’s Top Commentators Widget. :clap_tb:
Time Difference
One of the small annoyances that I and other US WordPress users have been tolerating for years is having to correct the timezone settings in WP Settings every time Daylight Savings takes effect. Not a huge deal, but for anal-retentive types like me, it’s something to obsess over. I was reading over Otto’s blog recently and saw that he had released a plugin called Automatic Timezone.
Sweet. :mrgreen_wp: One less thing for me to handle. :)
Comment Tools
I’ve long been a fan of Thomas Montague’s LMB^Box Comment Quicktags. I was having trouble getting the buttons formatted with the new theme when I moved it over yesterday and hit his site making sure I had the latest version. He also wrote a plugin called LMB^Box Smileys. Seeing as how I was going to have to find a replacement for my comment smiley toolbar and the now defunct WP Grins, this seemed perfect.
LMB^Box Smileys not only provides me a clickable list in the Write section in WP Admin, but also on the comment toolbar for readers to use. And an added bonus: it has all the WordPress default smileys and a ton of additional smileys. Nice! :thumbup_tb:
It’s ok, go ahead … go click ’em. You know you want to! :wink_wp:
Jo
I’ve had no problem with WPGrins ??? Anyway, I’m going to try the plugin you noted above.
