Nah nah nah nah,
Hey hey hey!
Goodbye!
I called Charter first thing this morning and swapped our phone and internet over to them. Our internet will be installed first thing in the morning, so that’s way cool. The phone will be swapped over in a few days, and will have many more features for the price we’ll be paying than what BellSloth/AT&T was offering.
Saving money is good, mmmkay?
Even better, Charter is handling the number transfer and canceling the BellSloth/AT&T stuff for us. Hooray, hooray, no more stupid forms or digital signage.
Oh, and the faster speeds will be WAY sweet. :D
Work seems to be settling down just the tiniest bit, but I’m sure that’s because a good many of my clients are out of town and/or on vacation. Works for me! ;) This frees me up to plan our next excursion:
Heehee heehee heehee! I’ve been bookmarking, saving, and printing every single map, tourist guide, etc. that I can find. I’m so excited, I can’t wait!

You are honestly the only person I know who switched to Cable.
What happened with BellSouth/AT&T?
Jo
We’ve never had an issue fortunately with AT&T/Bellsouth — but then the only other option I have in town for fast access service is our local cable company and if it thinks about raining — its down.

There is this lovely couple I know who live in Hueytown (or is it Hueyton??). They have been having so many problems with Charter cable that they want to switch to anything else but live too far out for DSL. So they suffer with Charter’s awful service. I sure hope y’all have it better there than they do. If you do wind up with better service, perhaps it can give them hope that Charter doesn’t suck everywhere in Alabama. *fingers crossed*

@JV: “You are honestly the only person I know who switched to Cable.

Honestly, it’s years of problems I’ve had with them. The two that have been ongoing were static on the phone and internet dropping sporadically. I’ve called, emailed, and snail-mailed letters of complaint and if I was lucky, I received a generic auto-mail response.

It’s funny, most people I know 25+ miles outside Birmingham have had no problem with BellSloth. *shrug* I know I’m not the only one in my neighborhood having these problems.

Hueytown is correct. :)
Yeah, I’ve heard plenty of people tell me/us horror stories with Charter, and I’ve had my own problems dealing with them in the past, but in all fairness to them, I get the sense they’re trying like hell to win back former customers around here.
One thing I will say about them, when I have called or emailed complaints in the past, they were very quick to respond and correct.
The way I see it: They are the lesser of two weasels. ;P

My Charter in Chalkville is the sh*t! It’s hardly ever down, and if it is it’s only for 1/2 to 1 hour. I get consistent 10meg downloads and sometimes hit 1meg uploads. Charter does not suck everywhere….just almost.

@John: I’ve been very pleased so far. :)
Everyone I’ve talked to in G’dale/F’dale who has Charter internet has loved it.
(heh, rest assured that if anything ever does go wrong, you can count on me blogging it! ;))
