By way of Lifehacker, GOS posts a nifty trick for getting back the iGoogle “Winter” theme that was offered back in March.
How do you get it? I’m so glad you asked. It seems the theme is no longer available from iGoogle’s theme chooser interface, but you can still add it to one of your tabs. To do this, simply go to iGoogle and copy/paste the following JavaScript code into your address bar:
javascript:_dlsetp('preview_skin=skins/winterscape.xml');void(0);
Press Enter and click on the Save button in “Select a theme for this tab” to keep the new theme.

Wow, how cool! Thanks for sending this one along.

You’re most welcome. :)
Pity it has to be applied per tab though, but oh well, it’s better than nothing. :D

I was interested in the post about adding the discontinued Winter theme. I had a theme on my google page, but cannot remember its name and it is no longer in the directory. Can anyone place it? It was a view of white buildings around a lake, giving the impression of a tranquil village scene with weeping willows (?). It was dynamic and the houses lights came on in the evening. A swan or two travelled across the lake during the course of the day also.
If anyone can help, it would stop me going completely crazy. :sad:

Was it one of these?

Thanks for the quick answer but no, it wasn’t any of the original themes. It only cam on around the beginning of 2008 I think. It was cool to see the different weather images though (bus stop), thanks for that link. I live in Dubai, so had only ever seen the bus stop theme with the sun shining!!
Hopefully someone will recognize the theme I am looking for with the swans. It’ll teach me not to click on ‘Add it now’ without serious consideration in future!
