I ran across this article in today’s Birmingham News blog feeds:
Company brings online food ordering to area
A Houston-based company that provides online food ordering and delivery service to businesses is expanding into Birmingham.
OrderCorner says its online system is a “virtual food court” that allows businesses to make group food delivery purchases from well-known establishments. Menu options available through OrderCorner’s Web site include Mexican, Italian, barbecue, salads, sandwiches, desserts and breakfast.
Birmingham’s Lenny’s Subs is the first local restaurant to offer its menu through OrderCorner’s online system.
OrderCorner says it operates in 17 metropolitan markets across the United States.
All I can say is: it’s about time! In today’s convenience of ordering online for software, computer parts, books, clothes, music, vacations and cruises, … just about everything under the sun. It was only a matter of time before the ability to order food (that’s NOT pizza!) online for delivery came to The Magic City! It’s a shame that this kind of service has been available through many different companies and carriers all over the US in other cities for ages, but not one had yet stretched its proverbial hand into Birmingham’s many businesses’ deep pockets.
Personally, I’m looking forward to it, and hopefully many others.
