You know, there’s one place that until a few years ago that I would not have ever thought of getting sunburned, nor even entertained the notion of putting aloe vera “cooling” gel on: my scalp. Exactly how the hell does my scalp get sunburned anyways?
Thank God for Banana Boat’s “Soothe-a-Caine” spray. I keep a bottle in the fridge for when Jim or Jessie gets toasted, but unfortunately I’ve been the one using it. (Odd thing: this is pretty much the ONLY Banana Boat product I can use, pretty much all of their lotions and sunscreens make me break out into a horrible rash!)
I think the funniest thing was when I was looking all over the house for the spray. I couldn’t remember where I put it and couldn’t find it in the fridge, so I’m tearing up both bathrooms and every cabinet and closet looking for it. Jim tried to help out, but mostly watched in muffled amusement. Jessie looks up from her computer and says, “Are you looking for the Levitra?”
I answered, “The what?”
“You know, that stuff they talk about on tv all the time. I figured it had to be a new aspirin because everyone looks so happy in the commercials. You have a headache, right? I know I feel happy when my headache goes away!”
Out of the mouths of babes … :lol:
So I finally find the spray and spritz that stuff into my hair until I can’t feel my scalp anymore … and repeat about every 4 hours, LOL! Showering tonight is not going to be fun. Yeah, I brought it on myself. I took a ball cap with me Saturday, but figured that I didn’t need it. I’m not much of a “hat person” but I’ll guaran-damn-tee you that next time I’m wearing a hat no matter how bad it looks! ;P
Doc
Now you know why bald people keep that stuff in bulk. I can’t go out of the house after april without either a good dark hat or sunscreen. :-)

LOL! I know what you’re going through. I wore a sun visor, not much help for the top of my head. It was a little touchy up there when I was drying my hair. And with my short hair, I’ve got a nice little red neck going on. It was all worth it, however

@Doc – LOL! Well, I won’t soon forget this lesson. ;)
@mad_cow – Ouch, I’ll bet!
Yeah, overall it was worth it … though I must confess that I still haven’t finished unpacking the car … all of the chairs, beach towels, blankets, etc. are still back there. LOL! I finally took the coolers out this afternoon — though I had emptied them before we left. ;)

I learned my lesson about hats the hard way, after getting sunburned on the scalp, and the ensuing bread-crumb sized dandruff that would flake off when the burn started to peel.
I plan on expanding my hat wardrobe significantly this spring. I think all the moms at the local ballpark are tired of seeing my black cowboy hat with the skull. But it kept my scalp burn-free and provided a bigger shade than the average cap!
Nicki
LOL, black cb hat with skulls … I knew there was a reason I liked you! ;)
Actually, I want a “big floppy straw hat” … I figure if I’m going to wear something on my head, it needs to be huge and obtrusive. :mrgreen:
Though I came very close to picking up one of the “Saban style” hats at the Bama game Saturday until I saw all the other people walking around with it … I want something unique. :)
