Jessie came to me the other night and asked what a “summer home” was. I think she had overheard me talking about my grandmother and her coming up recently from her other home in Jupiter, FL. She lives up here half the year and spends the other half (usually fall/winter) down in Florida. We have family living next door to her at both locations, and it’s been really good for her.
Anyways, I explained to Jessie that there are some people who have more than one house. For example, if I’m not mistaken Neal Boortz has a home in Georgia and Florida … I pointed out that she’s heard him talking about flying between homes before, and I’m fairly sure she understood that. I think she didn’t realize that some people don’t HAVE to live in more than one home and might only use them for a vacation home rental — meaning that they might take a vacation at their other house, or rent it out to someone else to use for vacationing.
To show her some examples, I Googled “vacation home rental”. Oh Lawdy, 8 of the 10 first results were in Florida, and 6 of those were having to do with Disney World (MUCH to Jessie’s delight!!). I laughed and said “You can find all sorts of things with Google.” Jessie then says, “God bless Google.” LOL!
I thought that was too cute not to share. ;)
