Hrrrrmmmm! I’ll have to check out gVim. I used to use vi a lot years ago and loved how easy it was to pick up and use.
I’m an UltraEdit fan myself, but also love console editors. I have an old OLD console app, Semware Editor, that I use from time to time because it has a lot of the same functionality as UE, but loads faster.

I LOVE vi, even have gVim for the PC to replace
notesuckpad, wordpad, etc.It may take a while to learn most of its awesome features, but then it is an unbelievably, powerful editor!
