I was still up at midnight last night so Jim came upstairs and said “Happy Valentine’s Day, do you want to come see your basket?” Heh, I knew he was up to something down there, with all the noise he was making. He had mine and Jessie’s baskets sitting at the table where I work. I got a lovely wire heart-shaped basket filled with mini-Hershey bars (my fav) and another box of those chocolate-covered fortune cookies that I raved on and on about for the last year. (He remembered! LOL) He also gave me a sampler box of Whitman’s — I’ve always loved these, they remind me of Gramps; he used to give me the little bitty sampler boxes when I was a kid. Jim also gave me a very sweet card with the following addition: “The lovely words of a card are pretty for a day. It will take a lifetime of adventures, of struggles, of kisses, of hugs, of well-cooked dinners, of intimate outings, and exhaustive snuggling to keep and build upon this love experiment we started. Love you, Jim.”

When we first started dating, he gave me several cards with notes like that and poems in them. *sappy*
I feel a little bad because I didn’t write him any poems or songs. (I wrote a doozy last year! If I can find a copy, I’ll share it.) I did give him his gift last night though, a silver business card holder with a Ping golf ball and club on it. He’s been needing a really nice card holder for a while, and I figured that if he’s going to be giving out his card then he may need something a little more professional to use and show. :)
Jessie received a sweet card with stickers and a ton of candy. I think she was more excited about the flurries we saw when leaving for school. She excitedly said “It’s snowing, it’s SNOWING!” all the way to school. LOL! I mused that if it were possible and kept snowing and it stuck that school would have to close early and she’d go home. She thought this was a great idea … “YEAH! School would close early!”
I then added, “Yeah, and you’d miss your Valentine’s Day party this afternoon.” Without missing a beat she quipped, “Um, NO. School can’t close early today.”
That’s my girl. :D
