Had a lovely dinner with Jim, Jessie, and Jim’s mom at Bento last night. I so *LOVE* Japanese steakhouses where they grill/cook everything right in front of you. (Though Jessie doesn’t like the “fire” bits … those are my favorite parts! LOL)

Jim’s mom and I are going to “Fight Like a Girl!” today over in Vestavia. It’s a free self-defense class for women, offered by Oxygen Network and Charter Communications. From what I’ve seen in the commercials, it looks like a lot of fun, and I told Jim’s mother that I thought it would be good for us. I even recommended it to Jim’s ex when she came by to pick her up this morning. One of the ladies in charge of the class told me last week that today’s session is full, but because it was doing so well they are planning on having a couple more in a month or so.

After the class, Jim and I are supposed to do a little home supply shopping. We’ve re-done almost all of the landscaping around the house, and next on his “to do” list is to paint and re-board the steps in front of the house. Basically the rails and everything are fine, but a few boards on the steps are loose and need replacing badly. He wants to have some boards cut to replace them. I’ll most likely stain them red to offset the white railings, and to match some red cedar mulch in front of the azaleas in front of the house. :)

(Although it looks like rain today — and every day for the next week — so I don’t know how much of this we will actually get done!)

I’m picking up Jessie early in the morning so we can have the day together. She’s been spending most of the weekends this summer with her mother, and she’s been hinting that she wants us to spend a Sunday together like we did the last couple of summers — basically a “girl’s breakfast” and trip to the dollar store, LOL. It’s cool though, I enjoy spending time with her; and Jim will be playing games with her tomorrow afternoon (providing a NASCAR race isn’t on, LOL).
